We are thrilled to announce GCR’s participation in the EmpowerHerTrade regional workshop on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), taking place on November 26-27, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya. This event brings together representatives from four countries—Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania—to advance trade and regional cooperation with a focus on empowering women.
Supported by Global Affairs Canada in partnership with the UN Women Regional Office, the workshop centers on integrating gender equality and women’s economic empowerment into AfCFTA’s implementation. The aim is to ensure its benefits reach women entrepreneurs and communities, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
Mozambique is proudly represented by a delegation of five members:
Dr. Joaquina Gumeta – General Director for Small and Medium Enterprises, Ministry of Industry and Commerce
Madina Ismail Filipe – Ministry of Industry and Commerce
Doreen Tekedese – UN Women
Anisia Sambo – Young Entrepreneur
Nyararai Magudu – GCR
This workshop provides GCR with a valuable platform to engage with regional stakeholders, share experiences, and contribute to impactful discussions. Its timing, coinciding with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, further reinforces GCR’s commitment to advancing gender equality, economic empowerment, and a violence-free society.
“I feel deeply humbled by UN Women Mozambique’s nomination of GCR to be part of this prestigious regional forum, supported by Global Affairs Canada. It is an incredible opportunity to contribute to meaningful discussions on advancing trade and regional cooperation with a focus on empowering women,” said Nyararai Magudu, GCR representative.
